About the Master Portrait Artist

Larry Walker is President of Larry Walker & Assoc. Artist and Publisher/CEO of B.Visible Magazine,  Walker was born in Memphis, TN in 1957. He graduated from Northside High and is a product of the Memphis College of  Arts and nationally recognized artist with more than 28 years of professional experience.

Walker, a renowned portrait artist, is also a USA inventor. In 2016, he patented one of his many invention ideas, The invention product is called “Aqua’s Paint Yourself Clean - bath set for children, which is slated to be  release in 2016.  Walker believes that an invention is a product which answer or solves a problem.  He has been called “The Common-Sense Inventor”, who simply decided two years ago to share his many problem solving inventions with the world.

In 1990 Walker produced a popular five year community arts television show entitled Personal Portrait,, which airs on Memphis cable television. 

In 1994, the Tennessee Historic Council commissioned Larry Walker to create a “30 x 36” oil painting of civil rights activist and newspaper publisher Ida B. Wells.  In 1995, approximately 10,000 posters of the oil painting were reproduced and distributed to all schools and libraries in the state of  Tennessee.

The original Ida B. Wells oil painting hangs in the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville.  During this time , Walker was the second African American artist commissioned and exhibited as part of the Tennessee Historic Council’s permanent historic art collection.

 His commitment to motivate and help develop the talents of young people has made him one of the most requested visual artists to participate in the Artists-in-the-School program, sponsored by the Memphis Arts Council.  He also works with the other Arts Council sponsored program, Art Institute.
